FASD Southeast Regional Training Center
The FASD Southeast Regional Training Center has grown since its previous grant award cycles. The current three- year (2009 to 2011) cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), began in October 2008. This partnership between Tennessee State University, Morehouse School of Medicine, the University of Louisville, and the University of Tennessee has its official headquarters at the Meharry Medical College Department of Family & Community Medicine in Nashville, TN. Our purpose is to train primary care providers, residents, and students in the southeast states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi,South Carolina, and Tennessee. FASD Southeast speakers are current academic faculty from prestigious academic institutions who are experts in the fields of Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Developmental Pediatrics, Preventive Medicine, Social Work, Physical Therapy, Medical Ethics, Epidemiology, and Global Health. Through collaboration with other universities and annual FASD Southeast workshops, we have strengthened the center's core unit, recruited more trained speakers, and delivered more training sessions.
